Description:
There are no gill rakers on the 1st gill arch. Both the upper and lower gill arch have rough platelets lacking distinct spines. Caudal fin is forked and in large adults, there are two indistinct lobes at the posterior margin. There are 123–136 pored lateral line scales. Body has about 15 dark chevron-shaped bars crossing the lateral line. The dorsal, caudal and upper part of the pectoral fins are dusky while the pelvic and anal fins are white.
