Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 0; Soft dorsal rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 12-13; Vertebrae: 42-43. The upper jaw is conspicuously wider than it is long. The snout displays a consistent brown color without a dark band along the midline. The pectoral fin is shorter than the length of the head. The lower jaw is notably shorter than the head. In adult males, the sixth and seventh anal rays are significantly thickened and elongated, extending beyond the caudal base. Either dorsal ray 4, dorsal ray 5, or both are elongated and thickened.
