Description:
The dorsal fin has 69-97 rays, the anal fin has 56-85 rays and the caudal fin has 16-18 rays. The body is elongated, featuring strongly ctenoid scales on both sides.Eyes are located on the right side that are separated by a scaly interorbital space. The mouth is curved. The dorsal and anal fins are fully connected to the caudal fin. The pelvic fins are shorter than the right pectoral fin and they are asymmetrical with the right pelvic-fin base longer than the left. The coloration is yellow-brown on the side with eyes, adorned with 12 paired, dark brown crossbands that extend onto the fins where they bend posteriorly. There is also a white-bordered, dark ocellus on the caudal fin.
