Description:
The lobe of the 2nd dorsal fin is filamentous in young individuals but shortens as the fish ages. Lateral line exhibits a moderately regular arch anteriorly with the junction of the curved and straight parts positioned below the 12th to 14th soft ray of the 2nd dorsal fin. The straight part of the lateral line typically has 16 to 20 scutes and a total of 31 to 50 elements. The coloration consists of bluish green above and silvery grey below, with numerous small yellow spots on the sides. There is a small black blotch on the upper margin of the opercle. The 2nd dorsal, anal and caudal fins are dusky with the caudal fin sometimes showing a yellowish tint. The pectoral fins are pale yellow and the pelvic fins are hyaline to pale grey.
