The total dorsal spines are 4 and the total soft rays in the dorsal fin range from 116 to 129 while the anal fin has 85 soft rays. Body is highly elongated, compressed and tapers to a point. Pelvic and caudal fins are absent and the anal fin is reduced to minute spinules. Anterior margin of the pectoral-fin spine is serrated. In its fresh state, the specimen exhibits a bright silvery-white color with semi-transparent membranes in the dorsal and anal fins.
