Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 7; Vertebrae: 25. The fish has an elongate and compressed body with large cycloid scales. In young individuals, the body is uniformly blackish-brown, while in adults, it is black dorsally and paler ventrally. One distinguishing feature is the anal fin element counts, as well as the lack of a fin spine with serration on the anterior edge. Additionally, the fish is characterized by having 3 to 6 large canine-like teeth on the lateral side of the lower jaw.
