The adipose eyelid fully covers the eye, leaving only a vertical slit at the center of the pupil. The curved section of the lateral line comprises 48–56 scales and there are no finlets. In terms of coloration, the body and the upper part of the head exhibit a metallic blue or bluish-green color, while the lower two-thirds of the body and the head appear silvery or whitish. There is a small, elongated blackish opercular spot on the edge near the upper margin and a narrow yellowish stripe may be observed from the edge of the opercle to the upper part of the caudal peduncle.
