Description:
It is cylindrical in shape, either rounded or slightly compressed with a pointed and flattened head. The snout is rounded and multiple rows of teeth are apparent in both jaws even when the mouth is closed. The pectoral fin is long with 11–12 dorsal fin rays and 14–15 pectoral fin rays. The back and sides are brown while the belly appears pale or silvery. Along the lateral line, 8–10 elongate spots are often observable. The pelvic fins and anal fin exhibit a translucent whitish color.
