Description:
Abdomen has a pronounced keel formed by 32–34 scutes. The scales before the dorsal fin are paired and overlap. There are discontinuous striae on the body scales. The pelvic fin consists of 1 unbranched and 7 branched rays. There are 45–59 lower gill rakers. The back is blue-green, the flanks are silvery, and the tip of the dorsal fin and the margin of the caudal fin are dusky. The remaining portion of the caudal fin is faintly yellow and the other fins are clear. There is a small black spot at the origin of the dorsal fin.
