Description:
With a brilliant orange bill and black above and white below, the lower mandible is longer than the upper. Prefers calm waterways with sandbars, where it frequently forms boisterous colonies alongside terns. uses its elongated lower mandible to “skimm” the water as it soars on long, angular wings.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occurs mainly in the coastal chars along the main rivers in Barishal, Chittagong, Dhaka and Rajshahi Divisions.
