Snout is long and narrow. Long upper and lower labial furrows with usually more than 8 hyomandibular pores on each side of the mouth. First dorsal fin origin over or slightly behind pectoral fin free rear tips. Second dorsal fin smaller than anal fin, its origin behind anal fin origin. Pectoral, pelvic, anal and lower caudal fin tips pale. Preanal ridges are long and prominent. No inter-dorsal ridge is absent. Upper caudal fin tips sometimes dark in adults. They look like spadenose sharks but have more than 8 small holes behind each eye and very long wrinkles at the end of their mouth.
