Description:
D1 X; D2 12; A 12. Color of back bluish-green, belly yellowish silvery; two rows of black spots on back below dorsal-fin base from origin of first dorsal fin to caudal peduncle; outer margins of dorsal and pectoral fins dark. Body fusiform; head longer than body length. Gill rakers very short, shorter than snout, when mouth is opened wide the rakers do not extend far into mouth. Teeth in a single series, minute and pointed in both jaws. Two dorsal fins, widely separated. Scales small and ctenoid.
