Description:
The front of the belly is rounded, featuring 33–38 scutes. There is no dorsal fin and no toothed hypomaxilla is present. The lateral series has 60–68 scales. The uppermost ray of the pectoral fin is enlarged and bony. Pelvic fins are absent. The origin of the anal fin is well ahead of the vertical line through the midpoint of the body. The caudal fin is small. In terms of coloration, there is a dark spot located behind the gill opening.
