Description:
It has a deep posterior sinus, which is a depression in the shell behind the umbones. It has a wing-like projection of the hinge margin, which is a small extension of the hinge on the right valve. The outer surface of the shell is sculptured by numerous fine growth lines and a few radial rays. There are pale clouds at the umbonal region, which is the area around the umbones. The interior of the shell is silvery and brilliantly nacreous, meaning that it is shiny and has a pearly appearance. However, the non-nacreous internal margin is reduced, meaning that the non-nacreous part of the shell margin is small.
