Description:
The body is distinctly ovoid and deep with small teeth in both jaws that do not enlarge towards the front. There is a broad, flap-like membrane connecting the proximal half of the 1st dorsal fin ray to the head. Scales are ctenoid on the side with eyes and cycloid on the blind side. The gill rakers are long and slender, numbering between 15 and 19 on the lower limb of the 1st gill arch. The body color is pale brownish, featuring a prominent large blotch at the junction of the straight and curved parts of the lateral line along with numerous dark rings and spots scattered on the body and median fins.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits mostly on clay, sand and mud bottoms of the continental shelf
