The organism is linear to lanceolate in shape, with elongated projections. It has a raphe with fibulae, and a prominent central larger interspace that can be seen when the organism is cleaned and mounted. The external canal wall is porous, and the transverse striae and interstriae are barely visible. The organism is typically 125-450 μm long in the apical axis and 6-7 μm long in the transapical axis.
