Description:
The fish is characterized by a body depth measuring 2.3–2.7 times its Standard Length (SL). It possesses a small mouth, with the maxilla reaching to the eye. The lips are not thickened, and there is an outer row of jaw teeth that are enlarged, along with bands of villiform teeth posteriorly. Notably, there are two pores and a median pit on the chin. The dorsal fin consists of 12 spines and 13 soft rays, while the anal fin has 3 spines and 7 soft rays. There are 5–6 scale rows between the lateral line and the origin of the dorsal fin.In terms of coloration, the body is silvery. The gill cover features a large blue-black blotch that extends onto the opercle and becomes indistinct in adults. The peritoneum is pale sandy brown, and the alimentary canal appears pale.
