Description:
The scales on the thickest part of the body are quadrangular or hexagonal in shape, and they are either feebly imbricate (overlapping) or juxtaposed (side by side). There are 14-18 maxillary teeth behind the front fangs. The head has two anterior temporals (scales between the eyes and the parietal scales). The scales on the neck are arranged in 31-43 rows, and the scales around the midbody are arranged in 38-54 rows. The ventral scales (the scales on the underside of the body) are distinct throughout, and they are not twice as large as the adjacent body scales.
