Description:
Distinguishing characteristics of these organisms include a relatively large and semi-oval body shape. Their caudal rami are notably large and elongated, and the caudal process, in particular, is larger than that of any other species in the Podon or Pleopsis genera. The head is relatively short and exhibits a rounded frontal appearance, with large eyes.In terms of sexual dimorphism, males are smaller in size compared to females. Their carapace has a sack-shaped and triangular structure. Additionally, the copulatory organ in males is characterized by a blunt point.Females, on the other hand, possess a small brood pouch, which can be either oval or hemispherical in shape.
