Description:
The head shield is moderately smooth with slight rugosity and granulation towards the rear. A long dorsomedian head groove extends to the supraoccipital process. The skin on the head’s sides and top is longitudinally wrinkled, and the snout is long and blunt. The premaxillary teeth are divided in the middle, and palate teeth are molariform. Three pairs of barbels are present, with the maxillary pair extending beyond the head margin. The pectoral fin spine is stronger than the dorsal fin spine. The body is dark grey or charcoal above, transitioning to silvery-grey below the dorsal margins. Both pectoral and caudal fins are dark brown. A maximum standard length of 40 cm has been recorded.
