Description:
The fish’s lips are fleshy, and the chin has 6 pores but lacks a median pit. The anal fin consists of 3 spines and 8 soft rays. On the first gill arch, there are 18–21 gill rakers. In terms of coloration, adults are whitish with numerous large black spots on the body, nape, and soft portions of median fins. Juveniles exhibit 4 (or probably 5 when smaller) dark stripes, each more than half the orbit diameter in width, which gradually break up into spots as they grow.
