The plants grow to a height of 15-20 cm and are flat, thin, and four cells thick. They feel soft and slightly leathery to the touch. Blades split into many flabellate segments. This seaweed has a slightly dark brown tint. Thallus used a strong holdfast to adhere to the substratum. The thallus divides longitudinally into a number of tiny lobes known as fronds. On the thallus’ blades, dark markings that resemble concentric zones are easily discernible.
