The blades are separated into a few flabellate, lateral lobes, which are thicker at the base and rougher at the margins. These lobes are typically 4-6 cells thick. Blade calcification is typically obvious. On the lower surface of the blade, there are well-developed, evenly spaced focal hair lines. There are also weak lines separating the hair lines, particularly in the middle to lower regions of the thallus. Blade height is 5–10 cm. Yellow-brown or green-brown.
