The coloration of this species can vary in life, with the central disc appearing either brown or a bright golden yellow, often featuring a pattern of dark brown or grayish lines. Its disc is typically smooth, having few or no spines.The arms are golden in color and usually have three arm spines, although occasionally they may have two. Additionally, there are 4-5 rounded tubercles at the tips of the arms, and their length is at least three times the length of each arm segment. The arms also bear noticeable club-like spines at regular intervals. The oral shields are oval in shape and four oral papillae are present. There are two tentacle scales. The dorsal arm plates are wider than they are long, with a straight or slightly concave distal edge while the ventral arm plates are rectangular.
