The upper side of the central disc is a consistent black to dark-brown hue, featuring tan markings, and the upper arm plates are brown. On the underside, the disc is light-colored or mottled, but it’s never entirely dark. The arms are lengthy and exhibit irregular bands of light and dark brown shades. The upper arm plates are wider than they are long, with one side being narrower. The arm spines are arranged alternately in groups of three and four and are robust with the upper ones being shorter and having a club-like shape.
