On its upper side, it is protected by substantial exposed radial shields alongside small, rounded granules. The lower part of the central disc lacks scales but is shielded by thick skin. The dorsal arm plates are extended and feature a keel shape with the outer edge being wider and either straight or slightly curved. Both the outer and inner edges have a concave contour. The side arm plates have five blunt spines, with the middle one being the longest. There are no lateral oral papillae, and the tentacle scale is tiny and singular.
