Description:
It has moderately to highly elongated body taking on a cylindrical shape but compressed towards the rear. Pectoral fins are present and can be slender or paddle-shaped. The snout and jaws are moderately elongated, with lips lacking numerous barbels or fringes. Anterior nostrils are tubular, while posterior nostrils either open into the mouth or along the lower edge of the upper lip. Eyes range from moderately to well-developed. Numerous conical teeth are present. Coloration is variable, often marked, but generally exhibits a uniform and darker shade dorsally.
