Description:
The total number of dorsal spines is in the range of 11 to 13 with a total of 19-24 dorsal soft rays, 2 anal spines and 20-26 anal soft rays. Head lacks cirri and a crest. The lower end of the gill opening aligns with the upper margin of the pectoral fin. There are predominantly 8 sensory pores in the infraorbital canal and 3 in the interorbital canal. The lateral line typically consists of 7 to 11 segments. Horizontal stripes on the body are clearly visible in males but somewhat indistinct in females.
