Under light microscopy, two rows of poroids are clearly visible in the striae. Unlike some diatoms, there is no central interspace, and the number of fibulae and interstriae is relatively balanced. However, what truly distinguishes this organism is its extraordinary and unique girdle structure. This distinctive girdle configuration is a defining characteristic that sets this particular organism apart from others in its category.
