Description:
Mouth is terminal, small, and oblique. Teeth on the jaws are uniserial posteriorly. The teeth are incisiform to conical, numbering about 32–42 in the main row (excluding buttress teeth) of each jaw. Scales are finely ctenoid, with the head scaled except for the lips and the tip of the snout. The suborbital area has a single row of scales that continues around the posterior margin of the eye. A scaly sheath is present at the base of the dorsal and anal fins.Head and body typically exhibit a coloration ranging from brownish-gray to bluish-gray. The dorsal and anal fins are dark gray.. The pelvic fins are blackish with a narrow blue anterior margin, while the pectoral fins are translucent with a small dark-brown spot at the base of the uppermost ray.
