Description:
D1 VII/9; D2 absent P115; P2 I/5; A III/7. Body color rosy above and below silvery; brown saddle present on top on head; 1 to 3 longitudinal yellow streaks above lateral line, 7 to 9 below, and a yellow band along belly; a bright orange blotch near origin of lateral line. Dorsal fin rosy; anal fin milky white, wavy, yellow lines. Body slightly compressed. Pectoral fins reaching to or beyond level of origin of anal fin; upper lobe of caudal fin with moderately long filament, about equal to head length. Caudal fin forked, its upper lobe prolonged into a distinctive filament; no filaments in other fins. Scales fairly large.
