The valves are elliptical in shape, featuring curved margins and rounded ends. They have a narrow-lanceolate axial area that slightly widens from the apices towards a large, round central area. On both sides of the axial and central areas, there are longitudinal canals, widest near the central area and tapering towards the valve apices. The raphe is straight and has expanded proximal ends. Terminal raphe fissures deflect unilaterally, stopping short of the valve margin. The striae, which are fine lines or furrows on the valve, are radial at the mid-valve and become strongly radial towards the apices. These striae consist of complex, round to rectangular areolae, arranged in a single row. While one row of areolae is usually found along the longitudinal canal, some specimens may feature two rows.
