Shell is equivalve, inequilateral, and moderately large. It is modioliform. The ligament and dorsal margins are distinct. Both margins are parallel and the sculpture is smooth with concentric striae, which are lines that circle the shell. Radiating ridges are prominent on half of the body surface. The anterior margin of the valves is short, and it does not extend forward beyond the umbones. The posterior margin is raised into an ear-like hump, which is set off by a broad and rounded keel that radiates towards the postero-ventral end of the valves. The periostracum, which is a thin layer of skin that covers the shell, has hairs. The exterior of the shell is brown to olive-brown.
