The arms are exceptionally elongated and thin. In life, the central disc has a bluish hue with dark blue spots. The radial shields also exhibit spotting. On the oral side, the coloration is a lighter blue with dark spots. The scales on the central disc are adorned with prickly projections while the radial shields have rough, granule-like projections. The aboral arm plates are more than twice as wide as they are long. Each arm typically bears 8-10 spines which are covered in thorns, with the lowest one having a comb-like appearance.
