Description:
The plants have moderately thick calcification, thin axes and branches, and are only 3 to 5 cm tall. One cortical duster that is assimilatory in nature, originating from a medullary cell and displaying several terminal hairs at the extremities of cortical filament cells. After fertilized carpogonittm has divided transversely and each cell has redivided to generate gonirnoblast filaments, a four-celled carpogonial branch forms. Developing gonimoblasts are surrounded by irregularly branched vegetative filaments that contain involucral filaments, some of which are marked IN. Arrow shows where the gonimoblast filament broke off and is currently resting atop the carpogonial branch.
