Description:
The preorbital bone is about equal in width to the eye diameter or slightly less. The vomerine tooth patch on the roof of the mouth is triangular, with a medial posterior extension, and the tongue has a patch of granular teeth. Scale rows on the back rise obliquely above the lateral line, and there are 16–19 gill rakers on the 1st gill arch. The coloration includes a brown back and upper sides, with whitish or light brown lower sides. There is a series of 6–7 yellow stripes on the sides, and the fins are yellowish.
