Description:
Shell thin but solid, conical, lightweight, with 7 to 8 convex whorls, suture impressed. Sculptured with flat or elevated spiral cords and axial lines, spire with a carinated keel, body whorl occasionally subcarinate or carinate at the periphery. Aperture large, broadly rounded, columella smooth. Outer lip thin, smooth. Columella smooth, straightish anteriorly, meeting the basal end of the shell at an acute angle. Operculum ovate, with a few spiral coils and lateral nucleus. Colour: variable, pale grey or brown maculated with dark brown blotches below the suture, columella white, outer lip with a white band on the interior. Aperture pale yellow to whitish, with the outer dark pattern showing through
