Leptodora kindti possesses a highly transparent body. This aquatic organism is characterized by a substantial compound eye and an elongated abdomen. Its carapace is modified, extending just enough to cover the brood pouch.
In males of this species, the first antenna is notably modified for reproduction. However, in females, the first antenna appears small and is less conspicuous. The second antenna in both males and females is primarily used for swimming. Importantly, the body and legs of Leptodora are not concealed by a bivalve carapace.
This organism possesses six pairs of legs that are somewhat flattened, displaying clear segmentation and prehensile characteristics. Moreover, Leptodora exhibits a notably long body.
