Description:
The body has an elliptical shape and both eyes are positioned on the right side of the head. All rays of the dorsal and anal fins, except a few at the posterior end, are unbranched. The caudal fin has 13–14 branched rays. Scales are large and deciduous with ctenoid characteristics on the eyed side and either cycloid or weakly ctenoid on the blind side. The ground color is yellowish or yellowish-brown with the dorsal, anal and caudal fins appearing paler than the body and displaying dark spots. The spots on the dorsal and anal fins are concentrated near the middle of the rays, while the blind side is whitish.
