This whale’s body is incredibly stocky. The head and lower jaw are squared off, with the head pivoting far behind the muzzle. Slightly to the left of the forehead is where there is only one blowhole. To the flukes, the caudal peduncle tapers suddenly. The ventral flanks get lighter as the dark brown-black dorsal side progressively disappears. A shadowy area that resembles a fish’s gill cover spans the height of the head region behind the eyes. A little falcate dorsal fin is situated behind the mid-back. The flippers have convex following edges and straight leading edges, and they are big and somewhat rounded at the tips. Large and somewhat rounded at the tips, the flukes have a distinct median notch. Ten to sixteen long, curving, razor-sharp teeth are present.
