Description:
Shell moderately thick and heavy, conical in outline. Spire medium with 2-3 whorls; suture not deep but distinct. Shoulders of the spire and body whorls with a strongly keeled spiral ridge. Shell surface with many narrow, irregular spiral cords all over and a sharply angular spiral ridge bearing spiny tubercles at the periphery of each whorl. Base of the body whorl with a prominent spiral ridge bordering the umbilical excavation. Aperture ovate, posterior part free from the body whorl. Outer lip strongly dentate posteriorly. Inner lip more or less detached posteriorly from the body whorl. Columella smooth and straight. Anterior siphonal teeth short and deep, widely open. Shell surface creamy to yellowish-brown, often with quadrangular brown mottling: Aperture and columella flesh colored inside
