Description:
Body is slim with a large eye and a projecting lower jaw. Mouth is directed obliquely upward and the upper jaw reaches at most to the vertical line through the center of the eye. The gill rakers are relatively short and thick with 19 to 25 lower gill rakers on the first gill arch. The origin of the dorsal fin is around the midpoint of the body or slightly behind it. The anal fin originates a bit behind the base of the dorsal fin. There is a long tube in the swim bladder that extends down the right side of the body above the base of the anal fin.
