Description:
The lower jaw is extensively prolonged. The upper jaw is short, triangular and covered in scales. There is a preorbital ridge and the preorbital canal is simple, lacking a posterior branch. Caudal fin is emarginate, not highly forked. The coloration is greenish above with a widening silvery lateral stripe towards the posterior and a white ventral area. The fleshy tip of the beak is reddish.
