Homarus sp., can attain a remarkable total body length of up to 31 centimeters (12 inches) or a carapace length of 12 centimeters (4.7 inches), although the typical size falls within the range of approximately 20 to 25 centimeters (8 to 10 inches).A striking feature of these lobsters is the variation in their coloration, which correlates with other morphological differences. The majority of these creatures present a dark green coloration and exhibit relatively small squamae in the grooves of their abdominal tergites. In contrast, there are individuals that display a striking red hue and possess significantly more pronounced sculpturation in the grooves on their abdominal tergites. The green variant is referred to as the “microsculpta form,” while the red variant is known as the “megasculpta form.”
