Description:
The central stem is easily noticeable, appearing cylindrical and tapering in diameter from the bottom to the top. The branches exhibit a repeated distichous pinnate pattern, with the individual branches extending outward in an alternating fashion. The central stem consists of one central siphon, several pericentral siphons, and an outer layer of cells that form a bark-like covering. In this outer layer, elongated cells and shorter cells are arranged in alternating rings. The plants have a bushy growth habit, and they are deep crimson red in color, with lengths ranging from 3 to 50 centimeters measured from the base. The smaller branch tips are typically divided into two or more segments, featuring a single central siphon and having sharp points.
