Description:
The thallus is gelatinous-membranous, joined by a thin scutate disc. It can be sessile or quickly stipitate, and has a broad, transversely extended blade that is 10–20 (–40) cm wide, undulate-curled, simple or lobed, and has a reniform base. Cortex narrow, with three to five layers of cells; outermost cells resembling rabbit ears; medullary filaments extending in different directions, containing stellate cells that are extremely reflective. spermatangial sori enveloping the thallus’s edges. Size: 350–400?m thick, 10-15 cm tall. Greenish-purplish-red with hints of purple.
