The valves of this diatom species exhibit a moderately sigmoid shape and are narrowly lanceolate, gradually tapering to more or less broadly rounded ends. They typically measure between 150-250 micrometers in length and 22-26 micrometers in width. The raphe sternum displays double curvature, with eccentricity near the apex. The central raphe fissures only slightly project into the central area and vary in shape, but they consistently show a sudden deflection that is isomorphic, always deflected toward the convex side of their raphe branch. The central area is oval to roughly rhomboid in shape and is rotated. Terminal areas are lateral, featuring an isolated lateral row of minute foramina. These foramina are visible to some extent under a light microscope and appear as a continuation of a row of coarse areolae that extends about halfway around the apex. The transverse striae, which are fine lines on the valve surface, number between 14-16 in 10 micrometers, while the longitudinal striae are notably coarser, with around 10-12 in 10 micrometers.
