The 200–450 mm thick blade has smooth edges and a short stripe. Typically, marginal proliferations only appear in regions that have been degraded, damaged, or impacted by grazing. In addition, the blade is narrower (130–250 mm), with a lengthy stripe and frequent marginal proliferations. Purplish-red, purple, or brownish in color; dark green, off-white, dull, or orangey due to bleaching; characteristic: the base of the blade is a brilliant emerald green hue, typically with sporadic paler areas.
