Description:
The snout is pointed and the occipital profile is nearly straight. Posterior margin of the maxilla extends beyond the level of the posterior margin of the adipose eyelid. Teeth are villiform and arranged in narrow bands on the palatines and ectopterygoids. The vomer has an inconspicuous tooth plate and the posterior margin of the preopercle is serrated. The pectoral fin has 14 to 16 unbranched rays. Caudal fin is deeply forked and the lateral line is simple extending from the upper end of the gill opening to the mid-distal margin of the caudal-fin membrane. There are 6 or 7 scale rows above the lateral line and 9 or 10 below. Gill rakers number 35 to 41. There are 10 precaudal and 14 caudal vertebrae and 3 supraneural bones.The posterior margins of the first, second dorsal, anal and caudal fins are blackish while the remaining areas are translucent or yellowish. The pectoral fin is mostly black and the pectoral filaments are white or yellowish-white.
