Shell large, thin, large flat elevated spire; narrowly elongate body whorl. Aperture narrower than in other species of the genus, outer lip scarcely thickened; siphonal canal short and broad. Sculptured with narrow and raised spiral cords and obsolete axial cords. Colour: dull brown with any ornamentation; light and dark brown spots most frequently seen; aperture light brown, with white outer lip and columella. Size: shell length varies up to 120 mm in the Bay of Bengal. Average shell length, width, aperture length and wid measure about 79, 49, 73 and 27 mm, respectively
